Dear Reader,
As Editor of The Conch Chronicle, I am forced by moral conscience to address a pivotal issue which strikes at the beating heart of all that we hold dear in this world.
This great nation of the United States of America has entered a new era of politics and journalism. With our heads held high and our best foot backwards, we stride into history together. It is widely reported this week that other newspapers (The Washington Post) have proudly formalised censorship guidelines for their editorials. A bald perspective. A hike through the Amazon with only a newspaper for toilet paper. All action, no words.
We at The Conch know that there is only once stance to take on words. Our defense of the printed word shall not waiver.
The Conch will press on with undeterred indefatigability, devoid of editorial regulation, scruples, or taste. We will publish just about anything and especially save the false pretense and ideals for the weekend edition. You may not know the true intention of any given article or even whether it’s true, but goddamnit you’ll know that we never promised you anything other than unadulterated access to it.
God bless you, and God bless freedom.
T.E.
